Elegance and tradition

The history of the Galleria Restaurant has been intertwined for decades with that of the Galli family: after a continuous succession of different owners, on 1983, January 3rd our family took over and has been running the restaurant for 35 years today.

Ristorante Galleria Milano Bottega storica
The Milanese style

A living history in the heart of Milan

Compared to other meeting places, the historic restaurant has maintained a character of exclusivity and prestige, which does not pertain to the category of luxury but rather to that of elegance and tradition.

In fact, since 2008 it has been the seat of the "Salotto di Milano" association, chaired by Rosanna Galli, who received the Rosa Camuna award in 2008 "for the entrepreneurial dynamism and dedication with which she dedicated herself to the restructuring and relaunching of the Cafè-Restaurant-Galleria in Milan which, thanks to its innovative management, has become a symbol and an important city reference point, helping to restore the function of the Octagon of the historic Milanese Gallery as a cultural, social, tourist and commercial centre.”

In 2018 the Galleria Restaurant turns fifty, an anniversary which allows admission to the historic venues: a prestigious achievement, which allows us to continue to play a role in promoting and enhancing the quality, prestige of Italian products and the Milanese style.

After-Scala

A point of reference for artists and goers of the famous theatre

The Galleria restaurant is a symbol of Milan: a living history in the heart of the city, also marked by the proximity of the Teatro alla Scala. What attracts is that particular aura that one breathes, between an old Parisian bistro and a Milanese connotation: the refined, classic and welcoming style, combined with the particular courtesy and confidentiality that is typical of the Galli family, together with the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the products. offered, makes the place highly symbolic for many artists and visitors to La Scala.

For years it was the refuge of Barenboim and the tenor Giuseppe Di Stefano. Anna Netrebko used to dine at the Galleria Restaurant during La Traviata. There are many artists who frequent it after Scala, thanks to the fact that it is the only one open until late at night, such as the tenors Piero Pretti and Bernard Richter, the conductors Daniele Gatti and Ion Marin, the bass René Pape and the soprano Hibla Gerzmava. The walls of the restaurant tell the stories of the artists and their passage, among which the photograph with dedication by Plàcido Domingo stands out.

the Premio Galleria (Galleria Award)

In November 2024, the Premio Galleria (Galleria Award)was established as an annual award celebrating the deep bond between La Scala Theatre and the city of Milan.

Teatro alla Scala
The "drawing room of Milano"

The Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery

The so-called "drawing room of Milano" is more chic and at the same time more popular than the Milanese city: the Vittorio Emanuele II gallery.

Opened on September 15, 1867, it was lit by 600 gas lamps. Cafés and bookshops were among the first to reserve a place under the glass sky, whose regular customers were writers, journalists, men of letters, artists, industrialists and politicians. From elegant catwalk to theater of social demonstrations and political clashes, becoming a concert hall, a stage for ballets, a catwalk for fashion shows at the end of the 1970s, demonstrating its ability to reinvent itself every time.

Time does not stop and in Milan it finds an easy reality for change. With cruelty it gets rid of the past to impose new myths, to exalt new worldly trends: naive and thinking of stopping time, moral duty and protecting and safeguarding the symbols that history leaves us.
